Police Scotland has launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was seriously injured during a disturbance on George Street in Paisley.
Officers were called to the street at around 8pm on Monday, 13 July 2026, following a report that a 53-year-old man had been seriously injured.
The man was taken to hospital. Police said his condition was serious but stable when the appeal was issued on Tuesday.
Detectives appeal for witnesses and footage
Detectives are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances. Officers have also been conducting CCTV and door-to-door enquiries in the area.
Police are asking anyone who saw what happened, or who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, to come forward.
An increased police presence remained in the area while enquiries continued. George Street at Barr Place, Lady Lane at Argyle Street and Castle Street at Argyle Street were closed when the police update was issued, with local diversions in place.
